@kn1000a Just forcing in the wrong accent that does not work with the story or the character is even worse than having no accent at all. I would argue that using the wrong accent in the wrong way takes the translation further from the source material than just not having an accent.

Your essentially saying if you have a British character having him speak English with a Spanish accent is more accurate to the source than having him speak with no accent at all. That’s just dead wrong.

@D1stanc3 that is indeed true. I guess both are bad but one is just a bit better than the other since no accent at least doesn’t give the characters another different character trait. In that sense then I would say it’s up to the translator to bring the issue up and announce whether they will include it or not. While having a different accent is not preferable, at the same time I don’t wanna NOT know that the character(s) actually have one and was removed due to translation difficulties.

@kn1000a Yeah I can agree with that. Something I’ve seen a few translators do is change the type font slightly for a character with an accent but keep it normal English, just so you remember they have a slight accent when reading. But that might bother some people or be a pain to implement for some scanlators.

Either way it’s not a huge deal. It’s not Berserk or Blame or something like that, just a casual ecchi romance manga so it’s not like it’s the end of the world. I just wanted to bitch about it a bit somewhere, because soo many translators do it and it drives me crazy. People will debate all over the internet whether or not Japanese accents have English equivalents and whether they should be implemented. Im just personally against it that’s all. I don’t mind missing out on an accent or two because they really break immersion into the story for me, and I don’t find an accent develops a character at all other than me thinking oh they have an accent. My biggest pet peeve is using the southern united states accent to show the Kansai dialect. It’s just so unfitting and wrong, it has no place in manga imo.

I like the accent. Thinking like this: If the author felt it was interesting for the character to have an accent, it is probably interesting to have it in the translation. I know, I know, now Toyoda sounds Irish, but there is no other way if you don't know Japanese.

Tbh I kinda like this guy more then mc he's more honest and is completely insane I think he'll get some ass faster as well.

Also I'm complete trash hence the trope with the "silent cool type girl that is actually into really girly and cutesy stuff" is my favorite so this girl is on the same level as Anjou.
