Man, I know there's no way she'd win, but man, this is fucking hurt
I think she has a chance..?Seems like the guy does have a crush on her, although I'm pretty sure the main girl is gonna win him over in the end.

Honestly call it copium on my part but I actually do think Senpai will be endgame. Usually in manga, when the side character is being setup as the obvious loser, even if they get a lot of development the author will at least throw in some token development between the main girl and the MC.

But in this one, IMO, there's basically been nothing in terms of romantic development between main girl and MC. As you said basically all the romantic development in this one has been on MC and Senpai and the "will they evolve their relationship past the status quo" dynamic.

Like I dunno maybe I'm just hoping but it genuinely feels to me that this is et up for him and Senpai to get together at the end, Maybe that wasn't the author's plan from the get go but it sure feels like the plot has evolved towards that path.

What's the point of a story without issues? Romance works the same way. You have to have ups and downs... sometimes those downs are really frustrating. But you need to understand that if a story doesn't have obstacles that our flawed characters need to overcome, then there's no grows, and without growth, characters and stories are boring! Look at all the best rated stories out there and find me one where our protagonists don't have to overcome something, usually, internal leading to personal growth? Come on brother/sister. If a story was so straight forward you might as well not write a story.
Idk man doom is pretty straightforward and people like its story

The guy outright admits he doesn't wanna see senpai date anyone else. Would he even say that about miss girlfailure right now? I'm expecting an arc of separation that will create space from senpai probably from some misunderstanding because as it stands they would just end up dating with one clear conversation. Then in that separation he will get closer to the fmc and end up having his feelings overwritten and by the time him and senpai clear up how they feel it will be too late.It would be based if I'm wrong and senpai just steals main girl status though.
