Are we REALLY retconning how much of a bitch Takae was? I feel like her being a genuine asshole who SLOWLY turned into a good person was a good story trope. Rather than, she wasn't bad, she was peer pressured.

In all honestly, I do like the part of Takae getting excited whenever she makes the MC flustered through her panty shots. However, it does make her look more like a hidden pervert instead of a mastermind schemer.

I can't say I like this chapter overall.

While it's nice to see love given a fan favorite character, I don't think it works. She became a fan favorite because she went from megabitch to Saotome's #2 supporter; she had genuine character growth over the course of dozens of chapters and people ate that shit up.

I think, what could've worked better, is show that she was a genuinely kind individual to her other classmates and that it was specifically the introduction of a boy into the system that made her go into bitch mode. Granted, still wouldn't have been great, but I think I might have preferred that instead of trying to completely undo her original bitchiness.

Yeah, no, this won't fly. The funny thing about Takae is how much of a machiavellic bitch she can be under the hood of the prim class rep. It's a fun dynamic, why ruining it by trying to retcon it?

I don't know how to feel about this chapter. To be honest the Takae at the beginning of the story has felt off to me. It was hard to believe the girl that pretended to be good would be so open about black mailing someone. So giving in to peer pressure to maintain her social standing makes some sense.

Same, the chapter makes canon Takae's personality shift towards more embarrassed and pervy smoother and more consistent, but I feel like this was executed clumsily. I think that we should let the spin-off guy cook for the time being.

From what I understand, the chapter was intended to show that Takae wasn't as bad as she seemed, she "just" took advantage of a situation to show what was perhaps a fetish, since she did it again in the future for free willing. Perhaps an unnecessary chapter, but it also shows how she has evolved a lot, one of my favorites in the manga

Takae character is built on her trying to make up for her fucking up with Saotome.

If you remove her blame, then, not only her character and arc makes less sense, it also removes the flaws of her character.

We alredy had Ushigome bully Saotome out of Naivety.

But Takae has to own what she did.

This was the author trying to get people like me who never got over how much of a bitch Takae was and didn't like her being instantly forgiven. He's ruining her character for people like me who just weren't meant to be fans.

So, this isn't a retain. She was still terrible in the earlier chapters. Her being a bitch is still a part of it. But it's just showing that she's also getting off on making Hodaka uncomfortable/teasing him. But also her discovery that she's an exhibitionist. She was  still using Hodaka. this is just added layers.

wait so thats why she did 180 this fast? bc she wasnt just a bitch but was in the middle of the both sides. she loves teasing him but not that much to the point of blackmailing him normally. well in these type of situations to keep your position in class safe some people do the things they wont normally.
