In my opinion this series works infinitely better when it's doing the more casual harem romcom stuff then doing actual plot and character arcs. It was set up initially as that, changed because it was better as harem romcom nonsense, and therefore stayed as what it was better as.

Basically, ever since the first seaside school arc ended the series was in the shenanigans overdrive and it's exactly what makes it great. The shenanigans keep it from devolving into a total relationship drama tangle and keep it fresh.

There are a lot of series like this that run on for a long time with very simple premise, let alone those that actually try to develop into something more complicated down the line. The premise of him being the only boy in a school was enough to get things rolling and the popularity must have been steady to keep the ball rolling as long as possible.

They've seemingly stopped introducing new girls, minus that random girl at the fashion show that'll probably appear again, so now we are at least in the full pursuit phase.

I'm agree with you. For example : One Piece. The serie have a very simple premise, Luffy want to be the King of Pirates. And the series is at the chapter 1160 and isn't finish. And nearly noboby is mad about that.

Gotta say man, Ushigome on her Green Goblin shit is hella entertaining. Her irises going white when she turns is a nice touch. Just a complete dissociation from her normal airheaded self.

Oda protracted Wano to an unnecessary degree. While I love One Piece, it's super obvious there has been a quality decline over the years. Recent chapters were great but the nanosecond the flashback ends it's gonna go back to mid.
