Anyone else find the beginning of this chapter really disorienting? Like there's something missing between the end of the previous and the beginning of this one.

"In the end, he's a pretty nice guy."

No, he's not. No amount of lighthearted smiles is going to change the fact that his plan is to conquer the world and rule over it as a tyrant or die trying.

@Kevadu Yeah, the mangaka realized they fucked up and inserted a quick flashback in the middle of the chapter to explain what happened.

112 to 3157. Looks like someone doesn't love the spirits as much as he claims!

Since meeting the four great spirits is taken care of, most of the mysteries have been revealed, and the spirit liberation army is pretty much the only antagonist we've been made aware of, seems safe to assume the story is wrapping up. How many chapters would you all wager are left? Admittedly, it's kinda hard to get a feel for how much progress is made per-chapter, especially with how spaced apart updates are, but I'd guesstimate we're in the ballpark of 8-10 more chapters.

No, I think it's reasonable to say he genuinely is a kind and well-meaning person, he's just an idiot.
When he explained his motives, he made it clear that personally all he wanted was for the chibis to stop being killed and exploited. Which itself is noble.
The real problem is that he sees the spirit liberation army as "people who love chibis" and not "flawed human beings who are just as prone to abuse unchecked power as anyone else".
It's telling that when Zero called him out on this, he didn't have an answer. Rather than saying that he doesn't care, I think he genuinely didn't see that as a possibility.

That's my theory, anyway.
