A pretty common trope though, take Reincarnated as a Villainous Duke to be Condemned by My Daughter: Even Though I Stopped Acting Like a Villain, My Daughter is Becoming the "Ice Princess" or I was reincarnated as the father of a villainess, so I dote on my wife and daughter. to name just two that came to mind right away for the insane whiplash of the female characters instantly forgiving the MC after years of abuse.

At least here it's a bit funny that he doesn't go all soft, but keeps some of his villainous attitude and becomes kind of a tsundere.

A pretty common trope though, take Reincarnated as a Villainous Duke to be Condemned by My Daughter: Even Though I Stopped Acting Like a Villain, My Daughter is Becoming the "Ice Princess" or I was reincarnated as the father of a villainess, so I dote on my wife and daughter. to name just two that came to mind right away for the insane whiplash of the female characters instantly forgiving the MC after years of abuse.

Kinda sorta... with the ice princess she does take at least a few pages to warm up to her father and quickly transitions from cautiously optimistic to full on yandere in just a few chapters.

The other one however the child is a 4 yo. So practically any ammount of affection to an attention starved child would have them cautiously seeking more.

At least here it's a bit funny that he doesn't go all soft, but keeps some of his villainous attitude and becomes kind of a tsundere.

Think that stiffness is just him trying to keep up the pretense that he is still the old him so people ask fewer questions.

As an aside, I think the guild attendant is the more surprising turn around. She would have spent month dealing with his old personality while also hearing rumors and gossip about his treatment of the children. Yet one conversation and him turning in a commission was all it took for her see him as a good guy.

This one so far is good due to how it is not forgetting the part about taking care of kids properly. Giving them proper home, balanced diet, and be a good role model as well as become someone the kids can put their trust to.

The little ones turning on a dime isn't unusual. The older ones are wary, save for the poster girl, which as we've already seen is strained both from her own circumstances and her role in the orphanage, so she'd welcome any improvement in their lives, no matter the pretense. Besides, they are utterly dependant on his whims, to the point that he gets away with selling them into slavery in the original story. Being wary of him serves little purpose if he can do as he likes anyway.
