He's fucking with the timeline! If there isn't a true villain, then there's no Raphtalia, if there's no Raphtalia, then there's no Filo. The villain this time should have been Itsuka, but he decided to fuck it all up. I get he wants to help, but he can do that later on once the two other main characters have been established.
