About Raphtalia situation...
Someone on reddit told me about cut content from the Web Novel, and here's what he told me (spoiler ?) :

"Raphtalia was not found by Naofumi by coincidence. When the queen was informed about the summoning, she was pissed, and she expected the church to act against the Shield Hero, which would worsen her job even more, and she gave some orders to the shadows.

You may have noticed from the start of the story that Naofumi gets no support from anyone, a few days pass and he earns too little, however, one character took initiative to help him, who is it? The Slave Merchant. don't you think it's strange for that guy to reach Naofumi out of his own accord and suddenly have a convenient "tool" that was just enough for Naofumi's poor situation?

That's right, one of the orders was the Queen asking the slave merchant to somehow support the Shield Hero, because she knew that the Shield would not receive proper support, and that the shield can't work with no attack. Raphtalia was the cheap tool the Slave Merchant could spare of as support, but things went much better than he expected. "


Considering that information, maybe, after learning about the escape of the Shield and Spear Heroes, the Queen will help Naofumi and put Raphtalia on his path, somehow... I have faith ..!

I think you’re making a slight mistake though.

Just my guess, but I believe Raphtalia was in no way specifically chosen by the queen or the slave trader. They meant for Naofumi to chose something more practical than a sickly child. Speaking of which, the manga notes the area she was from had the stench of death; without Naofumi to save her early on, I think it’s likely that in this timeline she succumbed to her fate.

Even though things are much easier for our shield hero, it's sad to know of all the people he won't be helping or saving in this timeline. If I never knew about the original timeline, I would never feel that sadness in the back while reading this. At the same time, if I didn't know about the original timeline, this wouldn't be as funny.

Webnovel went off in a tangent but didn't specify exactly.

Yes, it was implied that Raphtalia was planted to be with the Slave Trader by the Queen using her Shadows. The Webnovel also alludes to Raphtalia's unique heritage as even for Raccoon Demi-Humans, she is supposed to be either royalty or maybe a priestess like the Orca Demi that was supposed to protect her village.

Considering that the current English Light Novel (Volume 14) release has something to do with Raphtalia's own sub-plot, I don't know what the specifics are.

Also for those wondering what made Naofumi prefer to sleep with a guy every night... Motoyasu is talking about Fohl, and Nao is using Fohl as a living shield against some distracting advances.
