P/S: I don't think he did anything wrong with destroyed the kingdom that forced him to fight or didn't accept the princess's request. I just find his mental monologues too cringe and childish for my taste here.

The idea is interesting, but I feel like the first chapter should have some idea of what the story is and not just a set piece and a cliffhanger. I don't think I'd care to pick up the next issue if I was buying this chapter to chapter. As is I'll check out the next one. See where it looks to be going. Hopefully it isn't something generic like "Oh no she has a specicial disease and the MC has to help those people he just turned away to save her." Like those opening scenes were actually interesting. It rushed through the background (which honestly could've just been alluded to in conversation and then flashed back to later to give it more weight and emotion but whatever) and then gave a pretty cathartic "solve your own damn problems". I also liked how the MC dealt with the haughty knight trope. Put it on their master and make it a direct reason for why he said no (why did she bring that specific Knight on a quest to "ask for help", she had to have known he'd be protective).

It's nice to see a MC that didn't just accept being executed for once. I get people want the whole "hero" mentality to be selflessness and forgiveness or whatever, but going too far with either just makes a pushover, especially when they were forced into becoming a hero and didn't make that choice on their own accord.

Yeah, they ain't Jesus who willingly sacrificed himself for everyone in the world even though they hated him, and being fully aware of that fact despite never doing anything wrong to them.

Anyone else doing the same thing are either trying to follow his example, regardless of their faith, or had no idea what they were signed up for like MC here, and it wasn't like anyone else was there ready to save him, so acting out like that was justified in his defense.

I started reading the translated novel so here is some added info about mc.

MC was summoned when he was 17 and is 20 in the present story. So in japan a 2nd/3rd year high school student. I'm guessing maybe, he beat the demon king with OP powers in a year or less.
