I really enjoyed this romantic ride! There was a lot of passive drama in the form of pasts, and the manga lets both that past and present create an intriguing story of love, both of oneself and of others (romantically and platonically).
The characters are really enjoyable overall, but it was their interactions between one another and the world they live in that kept me reading. For example, I love the complicated relationship between MC and Yurine as well as how their lives play a role in it. What makes these characters seem alive is how they look at romance and the what they want for themselves. While most of the female friend group are super interesting, Kayo felt the most flat (as ironic as it is).
The premise is simple, but the story is far more complicated and interesting. I say the characters are what really give this story meaning, but it goes beyond that as well. MC is having the hard experience of being between what he wants to do and what he has been found himself enjoying in the meantime. Everyone knows he will return to his old life, but in what form will that be? It was a great journey, even if who I wanted to be with MC did not work out. The journey overcomes that disappointment, easily.
8/10 I would easily recommend this to those looking for a realistic romance with interesting characters and backgrounds. It is not flawless, nor will everyone be happy with where all relationships fall, but I think this work is great nonetheless.
