There was a fashion for this kind of thing for a while--shoujo with a lot of casual sex and a sort of gritty street feel. It got a bit overplayed and then petered out (I think the scene it was based on kind of did too). Lots of them were pretty stupid, and they have that basic handicap that it's hard for them to give you that uplifting vanilla doki-doki feeling 'cause of being all full of aimless anomie.
But I kind of like this one.

Re reading a lot of the older shoujo Josei era and this definitely is one of the more enjoyable ones
