The argument of dominant hand is that for bow most beginner aim with the bow, not the string and it is harder for some people to make a dexterful movement with their non dominant hand. Think of it like folding your pinky/ring finger, some people can't fold only the pinky/ring finger. Also with less athletic (or muscle) people, they tend to had shaky non dominant hand.

It doesn't take much dexterity to aim with a bow, unlike what games claim. And if you're talking about beginners, it's far easier to learn how to aim with a bow than with a sling. By the time you learn to hit in the general direction of the target with a sling you start getting consistent hits with a bow on a reasonably sized target.
