The hell is she on about? She already demolished crowds of orcs and ogres. But only now, after incapacitating some idiot bandits who can teleport in a weird pose into the air, does she start acting like this is her first time witnessing death?
I'm not sure if this is just fantasy racism or some sort of weirdness I'm not understanding... but it doesn't make any sense.

I think the story is operating under the generic fantasy assumption that orcs and such are just monsters who have certain human-like aspects to their behavior and appearance, but aren't really sentient or whatever, so it's okay to kill them. Hasn't really been justified in the story though

If you've been hunting deer regularly, are you gonna feel perfectly fine after shooting a mugger in the face because you're already used to death?
I think that, for most people, there's a cognitive distinction between humans and non-humans, and being used to the deaths of the latter doesn't really prep them for being involved in the deaths of the former.

Having an initial shock is understandable, but in this case that is about it.
Which is what happened, she reacted as if she were perfectly fine soon after, just shrugged it off right away. And apparently the shock was actually by how much she didn't care, not by the deaths itself, so yes, she was prepared lol

And honestly, no, there should be no such a distinction when dealing with that type of people. I think most people would agree that rapists and murderers should not receive any pity from their (soon-to-be) victims, and most people wouldn't really pity their death either.

At least the deer doesn't harm anyone excluding car crashes I guess, the deer just goes around and do his own stuff, afaik deer won't rape you or sell you off as a slave, so honestly, a deer deserves more respect than those guys, and I would truly feel more guilty for killing a deer in this case.

Maybe Ren's expectation of remorse comes from these bandits actually being "closer to humans" than everything else she has slain.

They're actual people, despite being criminal r*pists that deserve no mercy in exchange for the others they may have killed.

Still... stress and mental anguish comes in different magnitudes. If it's Alisa, or especially Lily, Mental Fortitude Lv10 won't shield her heart from the tragedy of losing a loved one.
