Did the doctor actually manage to do anything, aside from offering the sympathy Yonatan should have received from his family? It sounded like everything he could do was to remove the pain. This was basically a decade if not more. But then again, it doesn't look like the duke really bothered to look for solutions either. They just employed a single doctor, who apparently faced an impossible task.

So am I, so am I… Dammit, it’s so good 😭. Scrumptious, I might even say. Peak entertainment—plot holes and questions aside (like the ones that others brought up).

Well their cruelty seems more to be from the acknowledgement that he can't do anything. Even with his magic. He has delays he probably can't overcome yet. Complicated things are more difficult then normal. So they lost will to him.

Yeah…more so I feel it also to just be indifference or just general apathy towards him?? Like they’ve already resigned themselves to his fate and just “moved on”, so to speak. They’re also not explicitly cruel or evil, since they did speak up when he berated himself before leaving. Sad he didn’t actually give a proper explanation or gave proper goodbyes, but then again, he too probably felt that they’d kinda just “given up” on him, in a way, therein fuelling his belief that they don’t care about him.
