I would call that making an informed decision, using posessed knowledge to measure your options and chose the best course of action. However, you dont need to take the best option. You could take any of the thought off options or even try to think outside the box.
The setup was supposed to be one where only two options are possible, and neither having any lasting consequences one way or the other. Could even add a further stipulation that the person is somehow made to forget the entire experience afterwards to emphasize this.
Lets say you have a training routine and work out some specific days of the week. You have at any of those sessions the option to move the day or to skip it solely based on what you want to do.
Without any statements to the contrary, your example appears to be one where both options would have some manner of consequences for the future - i.e. if you'd take full measurement of the person's physical and mental state prior to the first choice, did the choice thing every day for e.g. a year, and took another full measurement, your example would produce varying results depending on if the choice was always A, always B, or something in between.
In the ideal choice scenario I'm after, there would be no difference.

Also I think one of the reasons (possibly the reason?) why I'm treating the whole "causal relation to past event(s)" as a refutation is that you could hypothetically engineer a similar situation with identical results, but with the ulterior motive of manipulating the person into choosing one way or the other - which I'm fairly certain most people would point out as a disqualifier for the choice having been made of the person's free will.

Also also I'm not discounting the possibility that the whole problem itself is running afoul of some cognitive bias or another - in which case I'm just too dumb/tunnel-visioned to see it outright, and pointing out any applicable biases would be appreciated.
