why is an affinity that is strongest when the greatest peril is around bad? like, why would being strongest in the day be unambiguously better? war is often waged at night, as are ambushes, and monsters and animals alike aren't on any sort of schedule when they're rabid or starving. stupid, half considered cliches like this are so boring and tend to pull one out of the story when they're examined even a little bit. if you are writing a story, you'd hope that people are invested enough that they think about it somewhat. you'd want people to immerse themselves in your world. this shit never helps.
