Getting cut by a sword doesn't mean you die..
It's not like they got cut in half or were decapitated.
A sword cut can be healed like any injury.

I think they just can't die in this Arena or at the top of this mountains barrier, like the star path you just leave the ring when your "dead" or pass out, I'm guessing so they don't piss out big sects and keep the "young genius" alive so they can continue to grow
