Tbh I've never been into BL much, but I loved this! It was just so ridiculously cute, fluffy, and gay. Real wholesome ?

Aww, that was cute and sweet; I wish it was easier to find more stories like this.

I will say that I kinda disagree that only being in straight relationships is "logical" though. Depending on your goals in life it's perfectly logical to be with whatever sex or gender you want to be with. If your goals are simply to have biological children with your partner, then I guess you could call being gay "illogical" (although it's not like you can't get egg donors and surrogates if you have your heart set on children directly descended from you), but that's not in particular a more logical goal than having a happy and productive life, in which case being with the people you have mutual feelings for is perfectly logical.

I thought that that was the point—that he was incorrectly conflating "logical/straightforward/principled" with what was "expected" of him, and coming up with excuses for not doing what he wanted to do (which is understandable given the consequences, and not a terrible coping mechanism, but that's not the point of the story).

Of course I could be giving the author too much credit and it might just be a false "logic vs. emotion" dichotomy, as you say.
