Scandinavia is made of three countries, and, from a Japanese point of view, the only small one of them is Denmark, that is, if you limit it to the mainland. Denmark is actually one of the largest countries in the world if you count Greenland in as well. So, he's most certainly not being too mysterious about the location. Still, the chapter is making Denmark look a bit too hilly. Denmark is very flat, all in all. The highest "mountain" is about 170m high. However, if you view the landscape in the chapter as not being full of mountains, but dunes, then it could fit. For all I know, Denmark might have a location like that.
