Just want to give one last theory in before the next chapter, this one mainly tackles on why Yotaka might have retired and how it may have had something to do with Junior's eye. (Sorry if this seems like a rant)

Since the first chapter Yotaka made it clear that she hated being an assassin and in the following chapters we saw glimpses of her in her prime, the first being one where she's visibly exhausted after a hit (Chapter 3) and the second is where she appears completely beaten, on the verge of tears, and in pain (Chapter 7). I think it's clear that Yotaka was becoming a lot more disillusioned with assassin life in her later years seeing as how each job after the next started taking a toll on her physically and likely mentally.

I believe that the Last Hunt is where the panel from Chapter 7 came from, it seems like a stretch but the way the first two pages of the first chapter describe the event makes it sound like a legend, one final perfect hit shrouded in secrecy before she vanished but chances are the reality could've been a lot more bleak.

When Todoroki said that Yotaka was the one that took Junior's eye I think it was just a rumor he heard because from what we know about her Yotaka isn't the type to hurt someone like that especially someone she cares about and from how Junior remembers her I don't believe he sees her as being capable of doing such a thing on purpose, which is why I think Junior losing his eye to Yotaka could've gone in one of two ways:

1. Due to Yotaka becoming much more exhausted after each hit she may have gotten sloppy and accidentally maimed Junior during a fight or perhaps an argument where she lost control of her emotions due to her exhaustion, this could also serve as another reason why she decided to retire if it led to her hurting someone she cared about (perhaps this is why she claims any romance between them fizzled over time likely out of guilt for maiming him).

2. Junior was either maimed during the Last Hunt and saw Yotaka beaten or he was still recovering from losing his eye but still went out of his way to check up on her after the fight after she wasn't contacting him and found her victorious but utterly defeated.

I also think that Junior was the one who helped her retire (not to mention she said he visits her often and the entire reason for her returning was because Junior's boss found out how close they were) and if she did accidentally maim him then he doesn't hold it against her. Honestly it just seems like Yotaka was getting fed up with assassin life because her true personality is being a free-spirited degenerate and Junior wanted to help out someone he cared for then and still cares for now even if he may not show it.
