I would like to take this opportunity to remind you that Koiwai Yotsuba is named after the two largest dairy co-ops in Japan. Koiwai is based in Iwate and Yotsuba in Hokkaido.

This is uh... a very uncommon approach to translate a gag. Idk if I hate it or like it just yet.
As always, ty scanlations my guy :salute:

I
I left some text-bubbles untranslated to build toward a specific gag where Yotsuba, upon welcoming Fuuka into her home, butchers a stock polite-phrase beyond recognition. Keeping her jumbled speech here in the original Japanese, and rendering it as "[unintelligible]" in the form of a caption felt like the funniest way to translate this gag with respect to the original context. In order to do it properly, there had to be some other instances of untranslated text-bubbles with captions in order to introduce the idea and build the expectation.

Thanks for the question!
Really like that choice btw! I know the words, but having it like this really helps me to get more 'used' to it, if that makes sense.

Anyway thanks for picking Yotsuba up!

listed in "hiatus", i don't think author is going to continue this, we have another berserk on our hands sadly
i refuse to accept this
Yotsuba comes out with a new chapter whenever the author feels like it, it's not a regularly serialized manga, it's basically his hobby which is also why he refused to get it animated. It's not on hiatus or cancelled as much as a new chapter will be out when the author wants to write one.

Early chapters absolutley deserve high quality scans and I love the choice to keep the paper texture.
Great excuse to reread the series, thank you!

Thanks for the great-looking chapters, but the reason why you left the untranslated text completely flew over my head, despite having some knowledge of Japanese. I'm my opinion, either you put some notes somewhere... or you just don't do something like this. Most translators would either adapt the joke to English, or just let it go entirely and put some notes at the end of the chapter. I found that your "solution" breaks the flow without really helping to understand what's happening...

Yeah, it makes zero sense. I studied translation and I don't think I've even seen something like this even in translation theory books. You'll sometimes see people just not translate something and sorta sweep it under the rug, but this is a whole nother level. Intentionally leave bits of the source text in so as to get the reader used to it? What even?
