Okay, I know why I like this series.
Not usually one for sports manga, but this feels more like a series of characters confronting themselves and aspects of their life through interacting with Uonuma, and she and her pure, uncomplicated passion for baseball. Everyone who meets her ends up changed in some capacity, and it's a neat use of a central character who exists as a nexus for others to enter and exit with questions and insight.
Exactly the sort of metaphor-centric, lesson-by-allegory story I enjoy, and it makes this series a winner in my book.
