Eh, in this case, even if Miu knew that Takumi wouldn't fall for anyone other than her mom, she screwed up by not assuming that the girl wouldn't fall for him. Guess Takumi should have been more upfront on her being a fake girlfriend too.

"It must've been rough for you too" he says to the stalker?

Fuck that, dude doesn't deserve sympathy for jumping from rejection to Stage 4 Creeper behavior.

Better to rehabilitate someone who hasn't done anything really bad yet, no? That's what everyone argues for these days, anyway.

This. Stalking is already a dangerous sign of someone's true intentions.. but you don't know what they are yet and it's better to give the benefit of the doubt they they simply don't know they are doing bad and are just a horribly misguided person. At best maybe someone with the line of thought: "Maybe if I observe them, I can find a way to eventually win them over!"

Obviously extremely problematic behavior.. but not every stalker has evil intentions. Takumi had the right idea as it's the best chance for a peaceful resolve. An effective way to try and snap them back to reality if they're capable of integrity. Immediately respond with intimidation or violence (instead of using compassion & reason) and what was a loaded gun situation before could go horribly wrong, if you know what I mean.

Not at all trying to be lenient towards the act of stalking.. but I believe in giving people a chance if they're not known to be malicious beforehand. In fact, I say all that as a huge fan of vengeance. Though, vengeance & hatred is something that should ONLY ever be directed at genuinely evil people.

'Cause if a stalker has genuinely criminal intentions from the beginning and is sound of mind (e.g. an incel or "niceguy" who's offended by rejection).. then I'd say prison time wouldn't be enough and rather being straight-up lynched on a gallow or stoned to death by a crowd of fellow fans of street justice would be a more deserving fate. No further debate.
