Of course, the guy that trained classicaly for years in big restaurants, when having to make food for a band of european-looking medieval mercenary, whines about not having soy sauce and immediatly makes some japanese food.
Not the original european dishes that were created with the local ingredients and fit the taste of the locals, but the japanese adaptation. It's like if a british chef was isekai'd in an India-like world and made Chiken Tika Massala while complaining there's no Wercestershire sauce.

Can't we get a story where the author has actual knowledge, or consult with a real chef?
