The MTL thread here is pretty tame since (I guess) not a lot of people really give a shit about it. Check the "shit translation" tag thread on e-h for some real juice.
I live for the juice

traps are gay
I think the actual popular unpopular opinion is to say the term "trap" is all in people's head.

Gender non-conforming or trans people aren't trapping anyone just for being themselves, nor that says anything about their sexuality: people aren't that simple.

Even if you don't agree with what I just said, the reality is that those that use the expression "traps are gay" and the artists that draw it aren't going to be trapped in any way shape or form for the simple fact that those so called "traps" most likely don't want to have anything to do with them IRL. Therefore, you'll never be in that situation (if you look closely, people that call themselves "traps" online and post as such just want to earn something at the expense of prejudice, which is the core business model of porn).

In any case it's a pointless expression, all in people's head.

Interesting, I mentioned on a couple game review sites that I'm pro Sonic/human romance and got dog piled for defending it. Something about me being a creepy animal lover.

Mangadex more chill........sometimes.

This is the coldest take of all time, it's not even an opinion: Fiction isn't real.

We tend to get too caught up in the immersiveness of stories and treat the characters as if they're real, but they're not. I really wish some people could keep this in mind more often.

Often times it's even worse than that, people get mad at a character's stupid action instead of being mad at the author that chose to write it. The anger at bad writing gets displaced...

It's particularly bad to see way too many readers criticize a female character and then conclude saying stuff like "why are all women like this?" or "all women are like that", completely ignoring the fact that the female character was written by a male Japanese author that clearly has no real experience to draw from and is just perpetuating tropes that help selling his shitty manga or engaging in his own fetishes.

There's also something to be said about actively seeking the same shitty tropes over and over again just to be mad at the characters that are portrayed with those tropes. And again, these people get mad at the characters, not the authors, and then extrapolate to the real world.
