"The limited Kagari" threw me for a loop. Then I realized that this manga takes place in the time period of an older format.
I'm pretty sure there was a line, but she cut herself off from it by summoning to the MMZ. One problem with Sky Striker is that the mechanics mostly line up with the first half of the lore, where Raye is fighting alone... they can't just fix the archetype to be about having both Raye and Roze on the board, so it's permanently going to be a deck where Roze is just there so you can dump her with Hayate for the Linkage OTK.
I totally get the story deck strategy. It's super fun but it also sucks that it doesn't measure up to handtraps + combos
3 Albaz then Highlander across the rest of the Branded lore is super fun even if it's not actually good because all of the archetypes want to lock you to a different summoning method.
Which isn't quite what she did but feels like the same general process to me.
I'm a retard just like her frfr.
Trying to build decks pure as best as I can. Aside from some hybrid decks I run.
Although for Master Duel, I do have a competitive deck reserved for Duelist Cups. Thanks for the TL
Just speaking for myself here, those who want to build their deck pure are totally understandable (Melodious, Voiceless Voice, Raidraptor, Marincess, Branded... for example) since pure decks have their own unique strategies or interesting interactions according to their lore. And the same can be said for mixed decks, main reason being that sometime they can't reach that ceiling they wanted and most if not all of them synergize with one another. We have two good example being Plants and Dragons.
For Plants we mainly have Sunavalon, Rikka and Aroma. Sunavalon has strong start, can extend itself in niche situation that opponent can't even respond to, but they're weak in the grind game, Rikka has high skill ceiling potential, but doesn't have enough extenders to get where they wanted, and Aroma has strong grind game while also being a bridge for accessing other plant monsters, however the low skill ceiling make it rough for Aroma to push further on their own.
Combining these 3 together allow you to not only turn a subpar end board they used to have into an almost unbreakable board, they also cover each other so well you can slot in even more cards from different archetypes (Therion, Ragnaraika, Sylvan,...) to go even higher.
Dragons is even more so, Bystial, Red-Eye, Rokket, Dragunity, Hieratic, Chaos Dragon and more, you can say it's a chaotic mess because the deck does indeed use cards from 6-7 different dragon archetypes. All just for extending and pushing each other beyond their intended strategies.
Bystial being an extender for link climbing or making high-level synchro monsters and an interruption against opponent's GY, Red-Eye as starter and extender, Dragunity for getting access to other dragons, Hieratic for extension and a good type of interruption, Rokket for tapping into Borrel dragons, giving even more extension, interruption and a good game finisher, and the Chaos Dragons acting as a swiss army knife for most situations and fill in any weak spot the other dragons may lack.
Everyone has their own way of having fun, and I personally like to see my cards from different archetypes work and connect to each other like a well-oiled machine.
So you are free to ask me how I made a deck with 5-6 archetypes worked together or how I turned some of them into an FTK (First-turn kill) deck. Just don't make fun of people when you see their "weird" deck and think it's impossible to work when you duel against them, because most of them WILL work if they know their cards.
Reminder this is before the newest wave of sky striker support that added new link 2, link 3, and even link 4 sky striker that all count as sky striker ace. For Motokariya and Sky Striker fans, don't worry she will come back with stronger sky striker later, still with pure structure.
That's really cool! Knowing this manga, I just know Exosister is gonna win, they LOVE making the worse archetypes do better in this manga. But it's a matchup you would run into on MD ladder occasionally, so that's pretty neat.
That's just because Ryan Yu is amazing and the rest of the attendees got caught lacking. As much as we would love for every new support card to be the best card ever and change our lives, the deck's still going to be gimped as long as it has all those "can't have any monsters in your MMZ" restrictons.
The day they release a set that replaces all the current toolkit spells with ones that let you cast them so long as your MMZs are empty OR you only control Sky Striker Ace cards, then we'll see Sky Striker actually being tiered again. We can only hope... it'll probably take 6 years though
