I get what you mean but I think the tree’s like a zombie ant fungus that eats its host from the inside and permanently brain dead where the host only remains functionally as a “living corpse” and the host themselves are consciously dead only able to preform actions the parasite would ask of them.

Plus, as crazy as Hamita is he probably doesn’t actually intend rape for Yuzukiri so probably he’d make the excuse she’s already dead or something or maybe he really is that crazy and Yuzukiri Man is about to spend the rest of his life with a guy named “Doug” in cell block D.
