I'm glad he didn't blame her. The class is also very interestingly lively and fun, coming up with nicknames and having personalities of their own. The visual gags here are great.

I also love how there was the cheeky bad girl there to be like "oh, looks like you got fooled, huh? How sad~~" but she didn't do her line cause he was already basically dead from shock.

Well, Rito didn't have much of a character other than "nice, dependable, and not sexually forward," because he was supposed to be a stand in for the audience and you were supposed to be able to easily slip into his role. This guy is an actual character, and is the butt of the jokes in the series. That tends to make for likable guys.

Kind of a spoiler, but latest chapter.

For anyone who cares, it ranked at 192nd place in shoseki sales the first week, and since it was released on a friday that's only counting two sales days. Rank 200 should be about 2700 volumes, so a little bit more than that. It's also selling a lot the second week and has ranked every day, so expect sales to be even higher for second. So it probably shouldn't be any risk of this getting axed early. It also looks to rank fairly high on popularity on the magapoke site, currently ranking highest on slice of life manga.

Edit: For week two it ranked at 173. 100 is 5500 sales and 200 is 3100, so about 3750 sales or something.

I'd say that the comedy in this one is generally better than To-love-ru too. That's the tricky part of ecchi, it has a tendency to get somewhat boring and just rely on horny readers, but this manga is genuinely funny.

After having read four chapters, this manga feels very... claustrophobic. The quality of the art is top notch, and the characters look great, but the pages—and even some of the panels themselves—are often extremely busy, and the flow of the paneling is sometimes pretty awkward to read. It seems like this is the mangaka's first actual serialization, so I imagine they'll improve over time, but I do wonder why their editor hasn't advised them to clean things up a little. All told, it's not bad, but it's a bit of a clusterfuck to actually look at. It's gotten a couple of laughs and a few chuckles out of me though, so it's not off to a bad start other than the messiness of it all. I'll probably at least finish the remainder of what's out and see how I'm feeling after that.
