Don't see how anyone can ship the pair considering KyoAya exists which is the most cannon yuru yuri ship behind SakuHima although to be fair anything is better than Chinaaka which is only to delay the inevitable YuiChina much like ChinaHima and Sakuaka (not so much for this now as Sakurako seems to have lost interest for akari) does for SakuHima.

Ps: for those who are worried about Chitose being alone there's always ChitoChiz.

A bit late to answer but as someone who ship AyaChito I absolutely adore how Chitose always put Ayano's feeling on top priority. Like, the sole reason for why Chitose ship KyoAya so hard was because she really likes Ayano (be it either platonic or romantic) and she wants to see Ayano to be happy. In yuri manga usually these type of shipper, joke characters are otaku-ish and they ship because they find the couple cute/amusing to watch, while Chitose case here is a bit different since she put Ayano's own happiness first and foremost, pretty much shipping for Ayano's sake. If I have to make comparison then it's kinda like when you ship your favorite character with another character because you want to see your fav happy?
Also, that one chapter where she lost her mittens and felt lonely when Ayano didn't hold her hand was really cute.
