On the description alone, I swore there was a series I read similar to this.

All you guys talking about the continuation of human race through incest angle is forgetting that the dad is a biology teacher. He has a particular area of specialty that will come up later but suffice to say, he is more than likely to be very well aware of the futility of the situation. In short, there is insufficient degree of generic diversity within those 4 individual to continue the human species. This is actually an area of some academic research in context of number of people needed to seed an interstellar colonization. The studies have shown you need about 10,000 to 40,000 unrelated people to ensure generic diversity required for a healthy population. 4 RELATED people isn't going to cut it. The dad would know this almost certainly. Saying that there's insufficient degree of genetic diversity would be like saying a drop of water in a 10 gallon drum would be insufficient to fill it up.

So if you insist on continuing to talk about this, that would be to satisfy your own deviant prurient interest, and not because it's a plot matter. Enjoy the fluff and camping/survival advice to come up instead.

Thank you for that clarification! I was a bit worried about the possible harem incest angle myself, but now I've got your guarantee that it's not gonna have that kind of weird s**t, I'll happily follow!

1. I was obviously(apparently not) joking
2. The minimum amount of unrelated humans to avoid the inbreeding depression is actually around 50, not "10,000 or 40,000"
3. Inbreeding depression lowers the population's biological fitness, it doesn't outright wipe them out - technically speaking you could repopulate Earth with just two people.

@BCS You can't repopulate Earth with just two people. It is impossible as their gene will degenerate, the offspring will have many birth defects and one plague will wipe them out. And human can only give birth to 1-2 children at a time.

BTW, I really hate incest.

@miyako19 incest will increase the Chance for birth defects but Damn its defenetly far from 100... also Even a massive genetic degeneration wont necesssary mean the end of humanity

All of you are forgeting the age factor, discounting the child the daugthers are fine but dad no so much, in an hypothetical scenario the three would have 24 child as a maximum in a lapse of ten years (always pregnant, 1 per pregnancy, impregnation in the first try, no cooldown inbetween) after that the male gametes will gradually hard to still impregnate and leaving a healthy descendency, plus other related factors like NO MODERN MEDICINE in the long run would increace the mortality factor for both mother-child (in general, but that case is specially high risky during birth) and the fact that they doen't have the luxury to have less human workforce for literally everything related to survivability

@blazingstar75 She didn't say she was a gun ota, she just happened to study up on it in the library. But yeah, given that she still should have used ear protection if she did her research seriously.
