Akari fears both snakes and cockroaches. (Sakurako fears cockroaches but not snakes.) However, when Akari stepped on a plastic snake (brought by Kyouko), her reaction was to weep at the thought of the pain that she'd caused the snake to suffer.

I'm sorry this is just a stupid detail, but though I did get that Sakurako didn't like cockroaches I still didn't get that Akari didn't like those critters in the chapter you linked... I did remember the toy snake though, that's why I thought she didn't dislike them

The reason that Akari's hair buns flew off her head was fear of that yellow snake, and the reason that the other girls found her goodness blinding in the case of the plastic snake was that her empathy had swamped her fear.
