Part of me thinks this MC would have deserved to lose his childhood friend: he had 3 years to actually man-up and become a reliable person and chose not to.

The other part of me hates the idea of anyone losing their childhood friend/crush.

And the final part of me thinks the hero should not have died that easily and probably wasn't fit to be the hero.
