Ok, don't wanna nitpick but... first of all, no amount of magic should explain why the fantasy people haven't figured out something we did over 4000 years ago (boiling drinking water).

Second, instantly heating up and then rapidly cooling a pot not made for rapid temperature change should just break it easily.
