REALLY hesitant here. The “on paper” of it is interesting, but really read these characters for a sec: it feels like the author isn’t committed to them outside of appearances. There is a “will” within each being, meaning the sword and the thief, but their justifications for that will are surprisingly weak. For a story that seems focused on character over world, the outlook for those characters feels like the author wants them in an ENTIRELY different field, and only considers the current story as a smokescreen till they get there.
I’m all for unexpected twists and a new interpretation of a hero but, like sitting in a seat that’s manufactured at an angle, there is a fundamental slant to this foundation I don’t feel wise trying to settle into.
