FFS this is still creepy behavior, bordering on if not objectively grooming. If you hang around someone underage under the premise that maybe they'll date you as soon as they're legally able to, that's still grooming. You're influencing someone in their formative years.

It shows restraint and maturity on the part of the older one to refrain from starting a romantic relationship before the younger one becomes an adult.

Once an adult, they can decide for themselves. Don't assume that the friendship will somehow be creepy. It can, but that's the same for any relationship.

That's not "restraint," that's just being a law-abiding citizen with morals. Date people closer to your own age.


Let me say for the record that I'm not saying that meeting someone underage and then later dating them when they're an adult is always bad (although its pretty dubious and legally and morally shady in any scenario), but this stance of "waiting until their old enough" is inherently groom-ey and gross.

If you approach someone underage with any kind of notion/intention of dating them, whether now or later, that is a BIG issue.

Anything that hits it will be sent to the direction it is pointing. Any trap that is fused with it will be triggered, and its effects will be sent to the direction the arrow is pointing.
