To be fair, it's set in the real world and the law will apply. Unlike say Solo Levelling where they cannot prove anything after the gate closes and takes the evidence with it, here, the bodies, murder weapons, etc, would very much still be there. So killing them would likely be an absolute headache with the police if they cannot prove it was legitimate self-defence.

As a rule, I agree with you that some people need putting down. But, in this case, there is a good reason to hold back.

My only problem with that is will/would he still feel the same about if/when they come back for him? He my not hate them or hold feelings of outright betrayal but being let go the way he was could leave him not seeing them that favorably ultimately not wanting to have romantic or even sexual relations with them. Though who am I kidding he is definitely going to look past being let go, say he loves them and they'll live happily ever after when everything is over.
