Well, depends on what time period's "lore" we're talking about. The Silver Age's Superman pulled new exciting powers out of his ass every issue and everyone was expected to pretend they were always there, so yeah the former could be the case here. More modern editions tried to explain it away as Clark having so many different mannerisms that no one would link the 2 together - which is undoubtedly BS, as you've guessed.

His first group of friends that actually care about him and would risk their lives for him have been agonizing over whether he’ll actually come back. He disappeared after recently being named a hero, so literally the country is in a national crisis. The king is probably getting completely shat on for entrusting the heroic title to someone who would just abandon the country. His master is a complete dumbass. And he still is dumber than a pile of bricks for not knowing his actual strength even after everything that has happened.

This is honestly crazy. Like I wouldn’t believe it if you told me this is what the story would become when chapter 10 released.

The master being such an idiot and utterly insensitive has caused Lloyd so much trouble and will keep causing him trouble. His personality couldn't be more incompatible with this kind of master. He's influenced by others, which does make him loyal to worthy people, so he's a splendid party member for a good party, but having such a personality under a master like Merlin was the worst because her miserable ideas affected him in all the worst ways. Sure, he did learn a whole lot, but he also developed an unhealthy character. It's no wonder Merlin spends all of her time alone, apart from Lloyd's company, and even less of a wonder she has made enemies everywhere, not only including the demon forces. She's such a moron full of cretinous plans and habits that it's practically impossible she wouldn't majorly piss off people left and right, especially people who aren't as gullible and malleable as Lloyd.

How much you wanna bet this whole arc is because they wanted to shuffle around some of the "main" cast members and sub cast members? They did it in the training arc, and now again with this one. I think the Author just can't commit to using only a single group of people and is forcing that into the plot. Otherwise, none of this makes any sense.

What really gets me is his IDIOT Master. How in the hell is him being thought of as dead a good thing.

No one. Not a single person benefits here. It can fool the demons, because guess what, they know they didn't kill him. His friends thinking he is dead isn't good either. If his mastet use this chance to train him, then she has basically reduced him to an item for her own personal benefit.

Seriously the master just needs to either go away forever, or stop being such a selfish bitch and stop pushing her own desires onto him, explain everything to him, then go away forever.
