The thing has some firepower to match when Sophia isn't serious, but not the intelligence. I love how she won the battle by outsmarting it, creating an opening to use a powerful spell to finish it off. As a mage her greatest asset isn't her magic power, but her intelligence. It was clever, but she's still smarter.
Nevertheless, Sophia also got hurt, so this also shows where her strengths and weaknesses lie like the fight with Eve before. She's best fighting out of enemy range, and she has a weakness that she can work on improving on. So far I'm getting the fights I wanted to see, I like it.
