I don't think people are specifically saying the kid is a boy, its just the general usage of saying 'he/him' for convenience instead of saying "that kid" all the time, which is longer and annoying to type, or 'it/they' which can imply a non-person.

Although just from visual looks, imo 65:35 odds boy:girl.

Technically they're both "artificial heroes" if your going to use that term both went through the same experiment but technically Cain was 1 of the first ones and was the first to survive the procedure calling her artificial and not him seems a bit unfair
