@starburst98 yeah I really dislike what the translator did there personally, because Kansai dialect is not the same as just having a southern American accent, it's really a different dialect, and nothing short of using a different English dialect (think something like AAVE) would come close to it. Adapting it like an accent conveys it differently and makes you perceive the character differently too due to the cultural perception the accent has.
And because to use a different dialect one must be very familiar with it, I do not feel comfortable venturing into that territory, especially without a proofreader/editor to make sure I'm doing it right and it flows well.
I am of course fully aware that not adapting the dialect also changes the character, but I fully believe it does so to a lesser degree because of how standard English doesn't have such a different perception. I would rather take that loss than misconstrue the character into something they're not.
It is not physically impossible to translate a dialect like kansai of course, I just don't believe I have the skills necessary to do it justice, and I would rather accept that shortcoming than try to venture into something I don't believe will work.
