It's not a bad story told and I could dig it (I've read all three chapters out) but I have to say what makes it weak for me is how it's rushed. There isn't time for anything to really get a good build up going in terms of characters and learning about the world more naturally.
Cause so far we've had it dumped on us through exposition that there's a resistance (I mean, considering what we know up to this point, duh but still) and there hasn't been much banter between MC and sneaky new lady (unless of course she's just going to be killed immediately, in which case I wouldn't be surprised since we have the other girl that the general was thinking about).
I don't have a problem with the king lacking imagination for her power to boil things. 1, medievil fantasy setting with little to no science from the look of it, so dumb as fuck people, 2, if they've been using heroes all this time then you could probably guess they had flashier powers with immediate apparent uses for far against demons and the like.
So yeah, I enjoy the premis, the art and such, but the character development and story needs to slow down and breath to really make this good. At least in my opinion.
