After a while I feel like all extra-shonen-y battles just end up being the same sort of muddled mess of screaming and big waves and swooshy energy and then usually rely on a character who pops in from time to time to explain to the audience what's happening because you'd never tell if it wasn't spelled out.

Now that EVERYONE is tired here comes the old trope of the bad guy swooping in to take advantage of the situation. Hopefully, the ... person? (can't remember if they were a guy or girl and to arsed to go back and find out) they were with that was questioning if Makina was a bad guy will step up to stop him. It's kinda sad that I've read SOOOO much manga that the plots all seem to be the same. Well, not ALL plots are the same ... according to Mr. Gutter Brain. Wait ... What?

NGL, I skipped over much of the fight and just used the images as a reference for what happened during the fight. Not like much of importance is really said, just a bunch of random encouragement and or reassurances that one or the other can keep fighting.

Most likely because the author and or editor saw a collection of tropes got traction and rather then attributing the success to the actual story they chose to go the with the most middle of the road tropey clichés for the most reward for the least effort.

If you think about it, why isn't there a backup party at safe distance with a bunch of useful items like bandages or antidotes? It could've been the knight guy, he's supposed to be strong after all.
