It's basically an Isekai equivalent for getting fired from a job because of under-performance. But since it's Isekai setting, they instead go for banished since saying "you are fired" might not sit well with many readers (well, in real life people who get fired from jobs do end up getting treated as being banished from society, atleast in Asian region, because losing job is seen as a bad character representation).Jesus, there is a lot of new 'banised from the party underdog turn into the strongest' story lately.
Some are decent many are the same(seriously why so many of them are similar? Did all japanese author go to the same prostitute?) and almost all of them are adapted from webnovel, that is practically a self insert. The slop economy is everywhere. I am sure as hell this gonna go into popular new titles page.
There must be a social commentary you can make by observing why this kind of story is written by so many artist and why so it's so popular
Waiting for a YouTuber to make a video titled 'banished story is the new isekai' or some shit

But unlike real life were one doesn't get to learn about their real talent as there is no appraisal method, and majority of people live their life under-appreciated or under-achieved.
In these Isekai setting they instead just go with mistaking skill ability as people don't understand the actually meaning of the words because of complex language system.

But here, he got the skill after he was on the verge of death.
