So I think it's worse than that. I think he got linked to the dungeon's admin or core mind thingy. When he's outside, he doesn't seem to have as strong of brain damage as when he's inside that dungeon. And I think he's slowly waking up to the idea that whatever is controlling him isn't him. That's why he's questioning it and himself so much.

Thanks for TL. In other news it looks like we were right. The reason Vim doesn't show off more is cause when he does physical enhancements there's a danger of him hurting himself physically. But when he does his mental enhancements he could potentially kill himself. And as one other commenter pointed out, what If this split personality or his lack of confidence is do to him using puppet master before and causing severe mental damage. Really interesting to see how this might develop.

That sounds like a pretty interesting theory. But have you thought about him just being a battle junky. He grows a wicked grin anytime he starts pushing himself(or just thinking about fighting). I think he’s just starved for combat but doesn’t realize it cause of the way his previous party treated him.

A second personality being the battle junky might also make sense

That works too. Honestly that was what I assumed was happening. He did have some serious trauma with his last team after all.
But there is something about this dungeon they are diving into and it does seems to be linked to him somehow. So maybe not just one personality but many?

Either way, his puppetmaster skill seems to be like a brain doctor poking a brain he lobotomized to get him to twitch. That skill is freaky.

I'll be honest. I wouldn't give a lot of authors that much credit but we'll see. Such a cool concept but I think others' theories are closer to the ground tho.

glad to see this series return. vim is an interesting character and hildemarie could also be a much deeper character instead of the pure stalker-wannabe-girlfriend character we see, since she's familiar with vim from before the story started for us.

Clearly she is having a bigger role but somehow she's more of a spectator. Like she knew her involvement won't change nothing. But she won't explain shit too

I think the brain damage is just a placebo; yeah it COULD happen for almost all people of his class to try this, but for him, it will never happen because of some specific reason(that isn't outside the scope of the story[e.g. cause he's the MC]). Maybe it awakens his other/alternate self or whatever, or takes his other/alternate self's cognitive abilities for himself.
