For sure, lots of people irl don't even do penetrative sex for whatever reason, be it not enjoyable/painful, too much effort, whatever. Completely valid.

They are using condoms though. I know some use condoms for oral (particularly during casual sex) because there's less chance of coming into contact with an STI. Neither of them are likely to have that problem though, I would just assume nobody in a piece of fiction has an STI unless it's a plot point lol. I suppose there's the other argument, to keep the mess a little more contained. But like, come on now.

Honestly I think a major theme of this story is that when it comes to true love, sex OR gender is more a biological instinct and societal aesthetic than the actual driving force of love between two souls. What better way to make that point than a story where those two things are in rapid flux, but true love isn't?
