Thank you so much for fast translation, you're the best Shane! :meguupog:
About the chapter: I'm glad, that Mona didn't turn out to be some obssesed siscon, atleast for now xd And I'm glad, that Kurumi brought up her mom. I hope something will happen with that plot point in this volume : P

As Naoi noticed, there's something clearly off about Mona's home life that's causing her to be so desperate to bring Naoi back. Hopefully their mom's boyfriend isn't abusive to her in some other way if she was telling the truth about him not being physically violent. Their mom lied to Naoi when she made everything out to be perfect, since her and the boyfriend constantly arguing isn't going to be magically fixed by having a baby. If anything, it would only add more pressure.

I'm starting to suspect that their mom's motive, and to a lesser extent Mona's, is to recreate their former home dynamic with Naoi shouldering all of the abuse for them. Mona asking Kurumi to stay during her talk with Naoi could also be seen as manipulative, since she did it assuming Kurumi would side with her to convince Naoi to move in with her and their mom again. Hopefully they won't react badly if they find out about Naoi's plan to move out with Kurumi after high school.

Also, it seems Naoi's dad abandoned her without ever signing the divorce papers, since Naoi assumed that's why Mona came initially, to collect them. That could put even more pressure on her mom's relationship with the boyfriend, since they can't get married if she's still legally married to Naoi's dad.

As for Kurumi, this could be good for her and help her start to figure out how to face her own mother eventually.

And finally, Kokoro was in the color spread too, so she might get more focus this volume. Hopefully it'll be in a positive way and not something like her mistakenly thinking Naoi got Kurumi to ditch class this chapter to hang out.

Thank you for the TL.

This is shaping up to be another excellent arc. Naoi is working to establish her independence, Mona is worried about being replaced, and their mom is trying to stabilize the relationship that's been a lifeline for her. Super interesting that they're all, reasonably, trying to look out for themselves and all ending up at cross-purposes as a result.
I understand hating the mom, first for sacrificing Naoi to get herself and Mona free, now for having a kid to try to fix her current marriage which, as we all know, works perfectly every time. But I can sympathize with those decisions.

I have no idea at what point Kurumi will be prepared to deal with her own mom and I don't blame her for dragging her feet about it.

I'm guessing her new boyfriend is also a toxic dude, since she mentioned they fought until she became pregnant. They seem to be the kind of couple that thinks every relationship problem is solved when a new child is brought in. But hey, It's just a guess.

I feel like Mona knows her mom all too well and believes once that baby is born it’ll be the focus of the family, pushing Mona aside just like they did with Naoi. So she probably wants her sis to live with them so she isn’t alone.
Shes probably desperate to have her sis back before that baby pops

Smart play by Mona: her mom's already got a track record of bailing while leaving the oldest daughter behind as a sacrifice, and the girl's clever enough to realize that without Naoi that oldest daughter is her.

The next step is to realize that the real winning play is to move in with her sister and her sister's Totally Platonic Roommate. As we've clearly seen those two are 100% free of drama and toxicity.

I think that maybe the mum is actually feeling deeply insecure about her relationships the comment about fighting until she was pregnant strikes me as a "having a kid will fix this" mentality because it'd tie her to her boyfriend.
Like others have said Mona is apprehensive about her new sibling. Not sure if she's directly replace Naoi in the new family dynamic but I think she certainly feels like her mum would use her as a scapegoat for either the emotional labour of child rearing or the physical labour.

Very likely, though there could also be more going on. Also, I saw a theory that the mom might end up having a miscarriage, which would implode her relationship and she'd end up pushing that resentment onto Naoi for thinking she caused it due to stress.

Thanks for the tl! I’m really interested in seeing the direction the story takes now that we’re focused more on Naoi’s home life and her sister.

As far as I know, she mother invited her and met her in the previous chapter but Nao didn't want to, now his little sister came for a reunion after 6 years.
