Believe it or not, there's actually a mythological basis for this. The Mesopotamian goddess of fertility Astarte was rewritten in Kabbalah as the demon Astaroth. So, remove the demon part, you revert to a goddess of fertility, I guess. Didn't expect such a deep allusion in a manga like this.
