So this is interesting but probably requires more investment than most people want.
We start with MC has the edgy backstory past life and is assumed to be useless with him embracing the title of 'trash' only for surprise he's one of the strongest people in existence.
The first two arcs kind of feel like the typical I'm actually the strongest surprise save the day situations. But people don't fawn over him after the reveal because he doesn't want that and they recognize that. He also isn't really called trash by other people as everyone close to him doesn't consider him trash. And word of his exploits from the first two arcs despite his efforts spread too far for them to remain hidden.
After that we start going further into the MC's backstory and more specifically the lingering trauma over it. The fact that he wants tot accept his new happier life and family but struggles to do so at times. We find other instances of his past as the belief he had that he alone was reincarnated from his old world into this new one turns out to be false. We get more about the world itself and its backstory and the current issues people are facing in it.
We get a point where the MC has told people his backstory but not everyone and he struggled to do that. But he still struggles to accept people and be happy, but he tries for it.
We also start finding out that other people might have similarly dark and traumatic backstories that they are trying to move forward from. In a worse story the likely last living elf whose people were wiped out by a human supremacist empire of villains would have her backstory shared and revealed right away, likely be a slave (it is depressing that this is one of the few stories where this isn't the case), and her and the MC would bond over their shared desire of revenge. Instead bonding seems to done from a desire to live and move forward. Also despite being a maid it is an actual maid uniform not a fetish outfit.
So its interesting. Several people will probably be turned off by the edgy backstory super powered MC who everyone thinks is weak because that is overplayed and so few of those works have anything of value. Others who enjoy that type of story might be put off that the story moves away from MC reveals his skills and kills a ton of people or an impossibly strong foe (that still happens of course but there's at least one or two plot important moments of stopping the MC from killing or the MC needing to not kill). I'm not sure I'd say this is great or that I'd recommend it, but I enjoy it enough.
