I feel it's a little odd that it's just a matter of not thinking or imagining it being fired with a lot of pressure. You would think that being able to do so would be a matter of having enough magic power or whatever is the equivalent of an 'int' stat. Kinda like in negima. There, the cost of magic depends on how much it diverts from the laws of physics. It makes for natural trade-offs between elements. Wind is basically just generating force so it's cheap compared to ice, where you have to generate matter, cool it, then generate force on it. In exchange, shooting an icicle tends to have more...impact compared to a gust of equal force. They could still have similar plot threads with that, since you'd still get a lot of versatility with water but less relative damage until you get much better.
