While I understand that she's raised like that, the Host is far too kind for this world. It's already implied this world seems specifically built to always be in conflict. Parasite will have a really tough time keeping themselves safe.

Ah well, kindness can bring unexpected rewards.

Speaking of endless war, I can't help but feel that there is some sort of Isekai Parasite Cabal making sure the world's in constant war.
  • Parasite strength is directly proportional to host health
  • Parasites are isekaid modern humans
  • More are always popping out
  • Wartorn lands lead to malnourished, starving people.

Seems like the perfect setup to make sure any newly born isekaid parasite arrives in a weakened host. Concentrating all power to a few rich, well-fed Hosts.

Who knows, maybe there are noble houses that hosts a parasite for generations

I was thinking the same thing as the step-brother, dumb as hell trying to marry the heir to the throne to another royal that has no lands. Serving up their nation on a plate right to the empire, no way the emperor would go to war or have him take her back to the empire to be bride when it's a win-win to just order the third prince to stay there.
It would make much more sense to be sending the step-sister instead to be the bride instead of giving the Empire legitimacy to rule over them, but the country officials are all retarded apparently.

You will find throughout history how various kingdoms and principalities willingly gave up their independence to one empire to protect themselves from another. Some were given a protectorate status, some a level of autonomy, some were incorporated in a way, that all the nobility was given equal titles in the absorbing empire, and then several centuries later they would gain their independence again.

As a small nation sandwiched between two giants, you often don't have much choice and ultimately have to decide between a hammer and an anvil before they crush you.

Seems pretty likely but ultimately self-defeating
  • Parasites born into poverty are resentful
  • Many die but those that survive become deadly and ruthless
  • As a result they'll aim for the highest in society, always pitting them against the cabal
  • Thus the cabal will always be under threat from random, highy motivated and skilled assassins
If the world was peaceful and the average parasite would have a better quality of life and less motivation to murder their way to success - essentially they'd be more likely to turn out like the MC where they're able to coexist with their host and not be a danger to the other parasites or the greater human population.

I don't know, most people are almost never happy with what they have, no matter how rich their lifestyle is, and will desire for more. If the parasites get sick of the cheap, toxic junk food their hosts eat and they can't afford healthier, more luxurious food, they may take drastic measures to get the richer lifestyle they want. Aside from Colon, these other parasites seem to not care about their hosts and are only looking out for themselves.

Oh I agree in that peace and coexistence is the most logical decision and the most beneficial and even profitable in the long run

But sadly, people are not logical beings.
Hate to bring in irl stuff, but humans with power fear losing power the most. And they will do all sorts of dumb, short-sighted fearful tactics just to keep power for one second longer

If these Parasites were cold alien beings, they might do the logical thing. But they seem to be isekaid humans. And humans are ever afraid of loosing stuff

Or maybe I'm just being a paranoid nyegative nonce, idk

I think if history proves anything, particularly post-cold war in the west, it's that an abundance of food, entertainment and general safety creates a passive, docile population that's reluctant to upset the status quo out of fear of losing a comfortable lifestyle. If all the parasites are former humans then unless desire for power is specifically selected for then most would likely seek minor improvements in their station and not go on a murderous rampage for power.

A peaceful world doesn't mean the population is going to be feasting on mcdonalds every day and if the state of the world is as dire as it's portrayed then the diet of the nobility is probably not drastically different to that of an average health conscious upper middle class person. As for drastic measures, the MC has shown that the parasites can use brain chemistry to subtly affect their hosts behaviour towards desirable outcomes, the most likely scenario is a host that gets happy feelings every time they eat a salad and go for a run

Being born into a desperate situation has that effect, it would be difficult for the parasites to feel much empathy for their hosts when they're at risk of death themselves. Colon may be different because he's a more moral person but if he was born into a starving orphan would he nobly perish or would he cling on despereratly, sacrifices be damned?

True, even in a paradise there are those who not only want more but want others to have less and if the parasites are all former humans then that would be as true for them as anyone else. Humans are afraid of losing, but someone with nothing to lose will take far bigger and more dangerous gambles than someone with a stable job, a nice house and a comfortable life.
